Founded in 1849, Gayndah is one of the oldest towns in Australia and still maintains that old-fashioned charm today. Several buildings have been heritage listed including Mellors Drapery (believed to be the only building in Australia which still uses a flying fox to deal with transactions), old section of the State School, Gayndah Soldier's Memorial
Hall (Town Hall and Council Chambers), racecourse and several rail bridges. The main street is lined with historic buildings representing Edwardian, Federation and Art Deco styles. Catch a glimpse of the town's past at the Gayndah Historical Museum on Simon Street. Check out the beautiful countryside from several lookouts including Archer's Lookout, Binjour Lookout and Mt Gayndah.
