Better known for its cane history, the region was once also a major copper miner and the tunnel, dating back to the 1880s, is associated with that industry. This heritage-listed tourist attraction, through which visitors can walk, is the Southern Hemisphere's longest hand cut unsupported tunnel and visitors are able to take a walk through.
