Marakoopa Cave: Underground Rivers and Glow Worms Tour

Mayberry, Tasmania

Marakoopa Cave is a decorative limestone cave in the Mole Creek Karst national park. It has large chambers, two active stream systems, beautiful cave formations and the largest public display of glow worms in Australia. There are two tours available, the Underground Rivers and Glow Worms or the Cathedral and Glow worms. The Underground rivers tour is the easiest, the Cathedral tour has 250 steps taking you up to a large amphitheatre where singing is encouraged. Both tours are beautiful. The Mole Creek Karst National Park is in the central north of Tasmania, about 40 minutes' drive west of Deloraine. While you're here, take time to wander along the Fern Glade track, this track follows Marakoopa creek and meanders through giant tree ferns, old myrtles and beautiful rainforest, if lucky may see the elusive platypus.
