Before your departure, please contact the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service to arrange your permits, and to also receive a safety briefing, tide information and an up to date beach condition report. You should also confirm your barge transfer with Manta Ray Barges. Leave your tent behind and travel to Inskip Point, where you will catch the Manta Ray Barge across to Hook Point, the southern end of Fraser Island (K’Gari). Spend the day driving north along 75 Mile Beach and exploring some of Fraser Island’s (K’Gari’s) stunning natural and cultural attractions, including the Maheno Shipwreck, Eli Creek, Lake Wabby, Indian Head and the Champagne Pools. Do not swim in the ocean off Fraser Island’s eastern beach. Whilst on 75 Mile Beach, take the opportunity to see some of Fraser Island’s more remote inland lakes and sand blows from the air with a scenic flight. Airplanes on Fraser Island use 75 Mile Beach as their runway, allowing you to experience the thrill of taking off and landing on the beach. After your day of exploring, check into your accommodation on 75 Mile Beach on the east coast of Fraser Island, of which there are plenty of options to choose from.
