Day 8: The family owned and operated sheep station Charlotte Plains can be accessed on the drive between Cunnamulla and St George. It’s worth calling in to see the 1890s station bore pond, but many travellers choose to stay a few days to enjoy the station activities. Continuing east make a stop in Bollon for a walk through the Heritage Centre or call into Nullawokka first nations Gallery or book a tour. Arrive in St George and visit Riversands Wines for a wine tasting and vineyard tour. If you’re in town on a Tuesday or Thursday, you can book a tour of a fully operational cotton farm as well. For those history buffs, Join a tour on Wednesdays and visit one of the oldest homes in Queensland the Anchorage Homestead. For something a little different, call into the Unique Egg to view a gallery of emu eggs carved into a stunning illuminated pieces of art. It’s a world first. Late afternoon there is no better way to experience St George than taking a cruise down the Balonne River. Pack a bottle of wine and some nibbles and take in the serenity onboard the “Balonne Barroo Andoo” with Sandy town river cruises.
