If you’re travelling with kids, take a trip to Peel Zoo for a unique hands-on experience with over 100 species of native Australian animals and birds. Walk through the huge aviary, pat a koala, feed the kangaroos, hold a snake, or tickle a ferret. If you visit between October and May, you could spend your afternoon at Pinjarra Race Club. With the Darling Scarp as a backdrop, it’s Western Australia’s most picturesque racecourse. Return to Perth via the freeway (55 minutes) or take the country route, following the Darling Scarp north along the South Western and Albany Highways (one hour and 20 minutes).
