Stock up on fuel, food and water in Carnarvon before re-joining the Great Northern Highway. Soon, you’ll reach Blowholes Road – your gateway to the southern Ningaloo Reef. Be sure to check road conditions before making the journey. For up-to-date travel information, contact Exmouth or Carnarvon visitor centres, or the stations at Quobba and Gnaraloo. Make your first stop at the Blowholes and watch the ocean swells force jets of water through the sea caves below. Head just one kilometre south of the Blowholes and you’ll find Point Quobba, a pristine beach protected by a coral reef offering spectacular snorkelling. From the Blowholes, the Gnaraloo Road is unsealed, and leads you to Cape Cuvier – a great place to take in the ocean vista. Continue on to the working pastoral station of Quobba – a fishing paradise and surfing mecca at the southernmost tip of Ningaloo Reef. Camp sites, fishing shacks, shearers quarters, cottages and two chalets overlooking the Indian Ocean are all available for your stay at Quobba Station. Campers have access to hot showers, toilets, limited fresh water and power and dogs are allowed.
