Test your skill on Red Bluff’s world-class surf. Well-formed waves, tubes and the huge left-hand reef break known as Bluff Barrel, make it a top spot to hang 10. Throw in a line from the beaches for your chance to chase some mulloway, taylor, dart, trevally, snapper, squid and, in some places, bonefish. Or take a short swim from the beach to Ningaloo’s coral gardens, teeming with more than 500 species of fish, turtles, dugongs, reef sharks and manta rays. Wind the pace down in the afternoon and enjoy the rugged scenery, watch the ocean for dolphins and migrating humpback whales (June to November) and drink in the stunning Ningaloo sunsets. Plan your visit between October and November, and you may spot nesting loggerhead turtles on the beach, or tiny hatchlings making their dash to the ocean.
