Hit the water with your board to catch some of the best breaks and longest wave rides on Western Australia’s coast when the sea breezes roll in from October to March. The powerful wave action at the famous Tombstones is a favourite among surfers and windsurfers, but it’s not for the faint-hearted. There are a number of good surf breaks between Tombstones and Three Mile Camp for more intermediate surfers and kitesurfers will love the flat waters of Gnaraloo Bay. Snorkellers will delight in the marine life of beautiful Gnaraloo Bay. Experienced divers can also get some thrills exploring the Magnolia shipwreck, just off Monument beach. Or, if beach fishing is more your scene, this is a great spot to catch lunch. A morning on the beach between June and November may also reward you with a little whale watching, as the humpbacks make their epic migration to and from their breeding grounds. In the cooler months, a great way to spend an afternoon is to take a beautiful coastal walk between Tombstones, Three Mile, Gnaraloo Homestead and Gnaraloo Bay. After sunset, grab your torch and head north along the beach from Three Mile camp for a wildlife-spotting night walk. Ghost crabs scavenge along the shore and many species of fish can be seen in the shallows.
