Stock up on fuel, food and water and leave the coast for the outback, taking the six and a half hour drive east to Tom Price. Be sure to take a rest stop at Nanutarra Roadhouse, an hour and twenty minutes’ drive south-east of Onslow. It’s the last service on the road to Tom Price. As the Hamersley Range appears on the horizon, watch the roadside for sturt’s desert pea, bush tomato, poison morning glory, burra and northern bluebells. You can choose to make Tom Price your base for the next few days, or continue on to Karijini National Park, passing Mount Bruce – Western Australia's second highest peak. Park campsites offer safe wilderness camping with basic facilities including pit toilets, gas barbecues and tables. Be sure to stock up on fuel, food and water in Tom Price before driving out to Karijini.
