Take a short morning drive out of Dampier and you’ll journey back 10,000 years as you enter the Burrup Peninsula – an ancient outdoor gallery of a million Aboriginal rock engravings. Make the 10-minute drive to Karratha Airport for your return flight to Perth. Or if you’re travelling by road, you can retrace your tracks south to Perth via Ningaloo Reef and Shark Bay, or extend your adventure north to Broome and the Kimberley.
