Take an early morning walk or cycle on the five-kilometre track that winds its way south from Exmouth through fragrant eucalyptus, rattlebush, green birdflowers and toucan flowers. After breakfast, head around the cape once more – this time exploring the plains and gorges of western Cape Range National Park. Visit the Milyering Visitor Centre for interpretive displays on the local flora and fauna before heading off in search of Cape Range kurrajongs, white Minilya lilies, portulaca, purple lotus Australis, Sturt’s desert peas, Ashburton peas, indigofera, Yardie Creek morning glory, native fuchsia and pituri. Arrive at Yardie Creek in time to catch a guided wildlife cruise (seasonal), or take an afternoon bushwalk through the gorge, admiring the precariously rooted rock figs and looking out for Sturt’s desert peas, parakeelya and thryptomene. Return to Exmouth for dinner and your last night on the Ningaloo coast.
