Make Harvey Visitor Centre your first stop to pick up maps and information about the best spots for a morning walk and picnic brunch. Nearby, Hoffman’s Mill and the Bibbulmun Track are good options to view the region’s most prolific flora species, including grass trees, Acacia, kangaroo paws, Hakea, Hardenbergia and orchids. From Harvey, you’re just a 45-minute drive from Collie, via the South Western Highway and Coalfields Road. Along the way, Wellington National Park and the Wellington Dam make an ideal stop for a waterside walk before breaking for lunch in Collie. Continue on to Collie Visitor Centre to pick up maps of the region’s many scenic forest and wildflower drives. Spend some time spotting the beautiful blue Leschenaultia, white Clematis, coral vine, wattles, morning iris, purple enamel orchids, kangaroo paws, milkmaids, Hovea and cowslip orchids. Another 50-minute drive will bring you to the reserves of Boyup Brook – a haven for many orchid varieties, as well as Thomasia, Daviesia, Hibbertia, Bossiaea linophylla, Pimeleas, painted lady, sundew, basket and corry flower.
