Pick up picnic supplies in Northcliffe before making the 40-minute journey north to Warren River National Park. Follow the path of the wild Warren River along the Heartbreak drive trail (not suitable for buses, or towing caravans / trailers), passing magnificent stands of virgin karri forest filled with wisteria, coral vine and Clematis. Picnic at picturesque Maiden Bush or Heartbreak Crossing, and test your climbing skills on the 68-metre Dave Evans Bi-Centennial Tree. Just a 20-minute drive away sits the lush valley of Beedelup National Park. Follow the short walk trail through karri, jarrah, marri, sheoak, Banksia and the curiously-named snotty gobble, to view the waterfall from the lookout and suspension bridge. From here, it’s a 50-minute drive north to Nannup – famous for its colour-filled gardens and wildflowers. Take a short walk through Kondil Recreation Park or St John Brook Conservation Park, looking out for Hibbertia, purple flags, Acacia and Banksia. Stay overnight in Nannup, enjoying its country charm, cafes, galleries and fresh local produce.
