From Kalgoorlie, travel in a westerly direction towards Merredin on the Great Eastern Highway. From here, you can visit Hyden to see the biggest land-based wave in Australia - a 15-metre high, 110 metre long granite rock aptly named Wave Rock. Have a go at climbing the rock and witness beautiful views, including an outback sunset and golden wheat fields. Information about the 2.7 billion year old rock formation can be obtained at the Wave Rock Visitor Centre. Located near Wave Rock is Mulkas Cave, where ancient Aboriginal rock paintings can be viewed. Another highlight is the Wave Rock Wildlife Park, home to rare white kangaroos and koalas.
