Today's the longest leg of the journey. Drive from the coastal town of Exmouth along the North West Coastal Highway to the diverse Pilbara region. Here, you’ll find remarkable wildlife sanctuaries, stunning beaches, diving and snorkelling hotspots, lots of red earth and ancient rock formations. It is also likely that you will encounter huge trucks (known as road trains) transporting raw materials such as iron ore to the ports of Dampier and Port Hedland. Along the way, stop at the Nanutarra Roadhouse to refuel and stock up on eating and drinking supplies. From there, continue to Tom Price where you’ll come across a true panoramic view of the city and the Hamersley Ranges from the top of Mt Nameless (Jurndamurneh), which can be reached by a 4WD vehicle or on foot. The destination of the day is Karijini National Park, with overnight accommodation options available at Karijini Eco Retreat or at one of the park’s numerous campsites.
