Before you leave Newdegate, take a small detour north to Hyden to see a work of art by mother nature - a granite cliff sculpted over millennia by weather and water that has turned into a spectacular 15-metre high curve known as Wave Rock. Continue your adventure south to Ravensthorpe, where you will find artist Amok Island’s soaring mural 'Six Stages of Banksia baxteri'. This mural depicts the flowering cycle of the Banksia on grain silos 25 metres high. While in Ravensthorpe, head to its western border where you will find Fitzgerald River National Park - one of the most diverse botanical regions on Earth. It's also one of only three places in Australia where southern right whales come to calve in large numbers, giving you the chance to catch one of the greatest shows in the natural world. It offers many scenic walk trails and drives, an abundance of flora and fauna and well maintained camp sites. Continue West for two and a half hours until you reach Albany, where you'll find the 30m high ruby sea dragon created by Brooklyn-based street art duo The Yok & Sheryo right at Western Australia’s southernmost port. While you are in Albany be sure to soak up the Anzac history of this historic town by visiting the Albany Heritage Park and the award winning National Anzac Centre.
