Can you spot a classic wine in the making? Our Winemaker Barrel Tasting is a unique experience where visitors explore the world of ‘unfinished’ wines together with winemaker, Andrew Seppelt. Andrew will explain how wines transform in barrel and what characters we should expect in a particular wine based on its fruit origin, oak origin or barrel type? He will also uncover what is required to make the very best single barrel or reserve wines. Samples will be taken from select barrels throughout the tour, allowing visitors to taste their way through some special wines and to illustrate the various points highlighted. Compare notes with others and have all your winemaking questions answered! To conclude the experience, we return to the cellar door where you’ll be invited to relax and taste through a selection of finished, bottled Hayes Family Wines.
