This walk follows a well-defined pathway with a medium slope up to the headland. The walk is suitable in dry weather only. This walk requires a reasonable amount of sand/beach walking. After heavy rain, the lagoon entrance may be open and it may be difficult to cross. Start at the front of Dee Why Surf Club at James Meehan Reserve and walk north across the grassed area in front of the carpark. At the end of the grassed area you will notice the Dee Why Lagoon Wildlife Refuge sign. Take the track next to the sign for picturesque views of the lagoon. Follow the track around the lagoon until you reach Long Reef Beach. Walk north along the beach to Long Reef Headland. There is a boardwalk from the beach to the pathway leading up to Long Reef Headland. Walk up to the headland and enjoy the magnificent 360 degree views. Whales and dolphins may be viewed from the headland. You can choose to walk back to Dee Why Beach the way you came via the lagoon or you can walk back along Long Reef/Dee Why Beach.
