The Sapphire Coast consists of roughly 160 kilometres of spectacular coastline spanning from Bermagui in the north to close to the Victorian border in the south. Many features including headlands, embayments, coastal inlets, lakes, quaint coastal villages, swaths of stunning bushland and an abundance of undisturbed beaches make up the coastal fringe. Running parallel to this much-adored coastal fringe is a narrow expanse of shallow kelp-covered reefs that are buffered by the sandy bottom. These reefs provide robust habitats for all manner of marine life that can be seen a short distance from the shore in many locations. As the name suggests the ‘Sapphire Coast’ is consistently graced with the presence of stunningly clear water.
