The walking tour highlights the 26-year journey of learning to work with nature in creating a diverse, regenerative smallholding bursting with over 170 fruit trees with diversity ranging from subtropicals like bananas, avocados and macadamias to cherries, apples and stone fruit that need a bit chill. You will find out, how to have healthy plants laden with nutrient-dense produce using minimal inputs, how to achieve Net Zero Now status, and so much more. The tour includes the Closed Loop Orchard where they tap into nature’s circular ecosystems and let the experts, the soil food web, do most of the work. The focus is on increasing soil carbon levels and the diversity of our soil microbes. You could say they are building our biological bank balance. In 2019 Oranje Tractor Farm won the Albany Chamber of Commerce and Industry Great Southern Business Environment and Sustainability Award and have been finalists on two other occasions.
