The Conic Range Walking Track lies within the Mount Lawson State Park in North East Victoria. Known for its steep slopes and prominent rocky bluffs which give a natural rugged beauty, the Park contains a range of natural environments with significant conservation values. Begin the Conic Range Walking Track from the car park area on Firebrace Track, accessed from the Mt Lawson Road via the Murray Valley Highway. The track itself well marked and is a return trail of 1.5km. Allow 40 minutes to return. This walk leads you to an outcrop of granite boulders that form a vantage point over the northern part of Mount Lawson State Park. A relatively easy track, it does present some more challenging sections with the first 200m rising sharply before becoming gentle and undulating. Meander through tall Blue Gums, habitat for the park’s magnificent Greater Gliders, before reaching the granite outcrop that provides views that include the Koetong Creek, meandering through the valley below, and a glimpse of Lake Hume. Conic Rocks is an interesting place to explore, please take care around the many steep drops.
