Let’s start by heading out to Etty Bay, home of the famous Cassowaries. These big old dinosaur birds really command the respect and adoration they deserve. Roaming freely we hopefully will witness their pre-historic aspects as we dig our toes into this sandy beach where the rainforest meets the sea. Then it’s on to Millaa Millaa Falls, a pretty town known as “village in the mist.” It is part of a 17 km waterfall circuit including Zillie Falls and Ellinjaa Falls. With a large pool below, we can lay out a picnic rug and have some lunch after immersing into the refreshing water. Relax and enjoy her splendid offering. It’s then time to experience the High Priestess Josephine and all her glory. A 750 m walk through the rainforest floor to reach Josephine Falls. With her 3 levels of platform viewing and pools to swim, smooth granite rock-face to slide down if your brave, she really is the heart and soul of rainforest. It has been an awesome day to remember always.
