Barrington Tops

Rainforest older than the dinosaurs' extinction

Barrington Tops holds a piece of Gondwana that never let go, Antarctic beech trees descending from forests that covered the supercontinent before Australia drifted north alone. Walk among them on the Careys Peak boardwalk, then climb to Polblue, where rainforest gives way to snow gum woodland and swampy plateau. Kayak a quiet river, or saddle up for one of the few horse trails in a NSW national park. Some places ask you to stop moving entirely, just to take it in.
