Phillip Island holds one of the world's most reliable wildlife spectacles, little penguins emerging from the surf at dusk and waddling back to their burrows in numbers visitors can set a clock by. Koalas, fur seals and migratory whales all call the island home too, genuine wildlife encounters scattered across a coastline that swings from wild ocean surf to sheltered bays within minutes. The Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit hosts the MotoGP each year, one of the sport's most famous tracks anywhere in the world. Even the racetrack can't quite outshine the penguins.
