Heading north from Perth via the Mitchell Freeway and Marmion Avenue or Wanneroo Road, the drive to Yanchep takes less than an hour from central Perth. Take a morning walk on one of nine walk trails in Yanchep National Park to meet the resident kangaroos, koala colony and wildlife of the woodlands and wetlands. Between September and October, the gardens and bushlands are also filled with the colour of spring wildflowers. If you’re keeping good time, stop for a quick coffee break at the park’s café or restaurant. Join the Indian Ocean Drive north of Yanchep and head for the rock lobster capital of Cervantes. The journey is approximately one and a half hours, giving you time to dine like a king – feasting on West Australia's most valuable delicacy, worth over AUD300 million a year. Between November and August, The Lobster Shack offers daily boat tours to collect the lobster pots, as well as factory tours and fresh seafood lunches.
